The Story
The name says it all: dudh means milk, sagar means sea. Spray from the falling water foams white as it plunges into the pool below, looking for all the world like milk being poured. The falls reach their thundering zenith during the monsoon.
The falls shot to national fame as the backdrop of the Bollywood blockbuster Chennai Express, with Shah Rukh Khan and Deepika Padukone dancing before the curtain of water. Long before cinema, though, they were a landmark on the old railway route — the train line that runs beside the falls is still one of Bhārat's most scenic stretches.
Reached through the Bhagwan Mahavir Wildlife Sanctuary on the Goa side, or from Karnataka via the Kulem–Castle Rock road, Dudhsagar is wrapped in dense, dripping rainforest — the reward for a 3–6 km trek from the nearest road.
