Philosophies born in Bhārat
From the atom-dreaming sage Kanada to the compassion of the Buddha, from the logic of Nyaya to the love of the Bhakti saints — for over 3,000 years, Bhārat has been the birthplace of the world's boldest questions. Explore the great schools of thought that began on this soil.

मीमांसा
While other schools chased liberation, Mimamsa asked a more practical question: what makes an action right? It built a rigorous philosophy of duty, ritual, language, and ethics — arguing that dharma is not something you believe, but something you do.
Nyaya
न्याय
Long before formal logic was studied in Europe, Bhārat's Nyaya school was building the science of reasoning. It asked: how do we know anything at all? What counts as proof? Its answers — perception, inference, comparison, and testimony — still underpin how we think today.
Samkhya
सांख्य
Samkhya — literally 'counting' or 'enumeration' — is thought to be the oldest systematic philosophy of Bhārat, and possibly the world. It seeks to end suffering not through faith but through precise analysis, listing the twenty-five principles (tattvas) that make up all of existence.
Vaisheshika
वैशेषिक
Nearly three thousand years ago, the sage Kanada declared that the entire universe is built from tiny, indivisible particles — atoms. His philosophy, Vaisheshika, is Bhārat's great attempt to understand matter, motion, and change with pure reason, and it eerily prefigures modern physics.
Vedanta
वेदान्त
Vedanta — the 'end of the Vedas' — is the profound philosophy distilled from the Upanishads. It asks the deepest question of all: who are you, really? Its answer — that the individual soul (Atman) and the ultimate reality (Brahman) are one — has inspired thinkers from Shankaracharya to Swami Vivekananda, and scientists like Erwin Schrödinger.
Yoga
योग
Born in Bhārat and now practised by millions worldwide, Yoga is far more than exercise. It is a complete science of self-transformation — a step-by-step path to calm the mind, master the body, and awaken the spirit within.
