शतेषु जायते शूरः सहस्रेषु च पण्डितः |
वक्ता दश सहस्रेषु दाता भवति वा न वा |

Transliteration
Shateshu jaayate shoorah sahasreshu cha panditah |
vaktaa dasha sahasreshu daataa bhavati va na va ||
Literal Meaning
Among one hundred people only one person happens to be brave, among a thousand only one person will be learned and wise. Among ten thousand people there might be one orator. And it is not surprising that among all such thousands of orators and learned persons, at least one person is a philanthropist.
