The Story
Born in 1931 in Kuchwada, Osho — Rajneesh — was a brilliant student of philosophy who began his public teaching in the 1950s. His early talks, with their sharp critique of orthodox religion and their call to live life fully, made him one of the most controversial and most followed teachers of the age.
He developed a new vision of meditation — the dynamic meditations that he taught at his ashrams — and his teaching, spread through thousands of recorded talks and books, carried the message of awareness to seekers across the world. He taught that the divine is not to be sought in renunciation but in the full living of life, in love, in laughter, and in awareness.
He died in 1990, and his ashram at Pune — now the Osho International Meditation Resort — continues his work, drawing visitors from across the globe. He is remembered as the mystic of the modern age, whose message of awareness remains one of the most influential spiritual teachings of the century.
